No change in Russian nuclear position, Stoltenberg says

Jens Stoltenberg says NATO has not seen any changes in Russia's nuclear position since Vladimir Putin announced he would place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.
At a news conference in Brussels today Mr Stoltenberg, NATO secretary-general, said: "So far, we haven't seen any changes in their nuclear posture that requires any change, changing our nuclear posture."

Mr Putin said the weapons to be stationed in Belarus - which does not have nuclear arms - would remain under Russian control.

Belarusian forces are not officially involved in the war with Ukraine, but Minsk has allowed Russian forces to launch attacks from its territory.
