Murphy led Brewers to 97 wins in 2025 season and an appearance in the National League Championship Series. He's been a stellar leader of men in his role.

Pat Murphy has done an incredible job in leading the Milwaukee Brewers during his tenure with the ballclub.

Now, Murphy is picking up some postseason honors of his own.

On Wednesday, Baseball America awarded Murphy its Manager of the Year award.

Murphy took over after Craig Counsell left to become manager of the Chicago Cubs. He had some college baseball head coaching experience, but never had been a manager in MLB.

In the 2025 MLB season, the Brewers started out rather slowly. But Milwaukee put together about three straight lengthy win streaks and turned their entire season around.

Murphy had some players come through for him, too, like Freddy Peralta and Jackson Chourio.

With Murphy at the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday, he and Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold probably were having chit-chats with other general managers or even agents.

Murphy provides a strong ethos of leadership for his ballclub. He's maintained a high level of professionalism throughout his tenure there.

Getting Milwaukee into the National League Championship Series, in a season where the Brewers weren't expected to do too much, shows how much he influnced his players.

Baseball America is one of the most trusted voices when it comes to Major League Baseball. For Murphy to win this accolade should let the MLB world know that he means business.

Right now, there have been rumors and scuttlebutt around potentially trading Peralto for some additional help. Ace reliever Nick Mears also has been getting some attention from other MLB teams, too.

It's hard to believe that Murphy would want to see these two stellar players get traded at this time. Yet Murphy also is smart enough to know that a team has to make marked improvements if they are going to go to the next level.

For the Brewers, that next level is reaching the World Series. They were at the doorstep last season, but ran into a buzzsaw that's known as the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers went on to defeat the Toronto Blue Jays in seven games to win their second straight Commissioner's Trophy.

You better believe Murphy wants to get his hands on that trophy in 2026. His Brewers players want that to happen, too.

With Murphy at the helm, Milwaukee is in a good position to do just that. His strong, quiet, affirming leadership is passed down to his players and coaches, too. Look for Murphy to potentially be in the running for another Baseball America honor in 2026, too.
