INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Both the Indianapolis Colts (8-2) and Kansas City Chiefs (5-5) are in improving shape as far as injuries go ahead of their Sunday afternoon showdown at Arrowhead Stadium.
Colts head coach Shane Steichen declared on Friday that the team wasn't ruling anyone from the active roster out ahead of the game, and then they went a step further on Saturday by removing the questionable designation on the only two players who had it, cornerback Charvarius Ward Sr. (concussion) and defensive end Tyquan Lewis (groin).
Like Ward, linebacker Jaylon Carlies (ankle) did return to practice this week, but unlike Ward, Carlies was not ready yet to be activated from Injured Reserve. Carlies has yet to play this season,.
The Chiefs listed a pair of offensive starters, wide receiver Xavier Worthy (ankle) and left guard Kingsley Suamataia (concussion) as questionable. Kansas City ruled starting running back Isiah Pacheco (knee) out on Friday. Both Worthy and Suamataia were made active for the game.
Here are the inactive players for both teams:
The Colts' defense is getting Ward (out since Week 6), Lewis (out since Week 8), and defensive end Samson Ebukam (knee, out since Week 8) back on the same day. The Colts are also getting wide receiver and return specialist Anthony Gould (knee, out since Week 9) back.
Edwards, who hasn't been inactive since Week 1, is a healthy scratch due to the Colts' finally-improving health at cornerback.
Due to playcalling and effectiveness, the Chiefs already struggle to run the ball consistently, ranking 16th in yards per game and tied for 12th in yards per carry, and now they're without their starter in Pacheco.
The Chiefs' offense does get a lift from having both Worthy and Suamataia available, however.
The Colts and Chiefs face off at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
