A highly explosive Notre Dame running back with Bijan Robinson-level talent could land with the Cowboys. Will they prioritize offense over defense in the draft?

The Dallas Cowboys enter the offseason, for most, knowing that the focus of their attention has to be on overhauling the defense for Christian Parker.

With two first-round draft picks, plus the ability to have over $100 million in cap space through various extensions and cuts, the Cowboys should be open for business.

Free agency will be the first on the list.

With several interesting options at defensive end (Trey Hendrickson) and linebacker (Alex Singleton, Devin Bush), the Cowboys have options.

Likely to be significant players in free agency with good, starting-caliber players, not Ferrari's being signed, Dallas can then turn to the NFL Draft.

Two picks, at No. 12 and No. 20, have the draft enthusiasts excited for what the Cowboys could do, and more importantly, who they will get.

Pass rusher, safety, linebacker, and corner are the areas of need.

We have seen linebacker Sonny Styles, corner Mansoor Delane, safety Caleb Downs, and EDGE David Bailey all be mentioned as options at No. 12.

But for CBS Sports' Blake Brockermeyer, he goes in a completely different direction, with Dallas selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love at No. 12.

"Jeremiyah Love has exceptional vision and patience, plus real value as a receiver," Brockermeyer writes. "He's a home-run threat every time he touches the ball, with outstanding lateral quickness and explosiveness. He gives me Bijan Robinson vibes every time I watch him. Future superstar."

This creates an interesting discussion point.

Our own Mike Fisher has detailed Dallas' "Thunder and Lightning" plan for Javonte Williams and Jaydon Blue for 2026.

But Fish also likes the BAA (best available athlete) and BPA (best available player) approach, while stating that if there is a Darren Woodson sitting there at No. 12, you pick him.

So if there is a Bijan Robinson sitting at No. 12, do the Cowboys pass because of their defensive needs?

That is quite the conversation starter.

The All-American rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 TDs in 2025, backing up his 1,125 yards and 17 TDs in 2024.

A do-it-all back, Love is quite the weapon. His speed, agility, and explosiveness are something Cowboys Nation would love to see behind Dak Prescott, plus he doesn't fumble.

Much like Javonte, Love is a power back, often pushing through defenders and falling forward for extra yards. He has Williams' power, combined with home-run speed.

Could the Cowboys really pass up Love if he's there at No. 12?

That, my friends, is a fascinating question.
