Eric Council Jr., a 25-year-old from Alabama, was arrested by the FBI for allegedly hacking the SEC's X account to post a false announcement about the approval of Bitcoin ETFs. After gaining access to the account, he passed control to unnamed co-conspirators who issued the misleading tweet on January 9, causing Bitcoin's price to spike by $1,000 before falling by $2,000 when the SEC regained control and confirmed the announcement was false. Council reportedly received payment in Bitcoin for his role in the operation. Source: Coindesk
