With Winter Meetings about to kick off, Dodgers might look at sending outfielder to another team.

With the Winter Meetings about to kick off on Sunday in Orlando, Fla., the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to be looking at upgrades when possible.

As the two-time defending World Series champions, the Dodgers most certainly want a third straight crown to sit right at Dodger Stadium.

Dodgers fans know that the team has to adjust here and there to fortify those opportunities at a three-peat. Still, the team might be thinking about giving up a veteran in order to make those changes.

One name getting some serious buzz, according to reports, is Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernández. That's what MLB reporters Ken Rosenthal and Patrick Mooney are reporting in their latest roundup of Winter Meetings tidbits for The Athletic.

"Hernández’s name is coming up in trade conversations, according to league sources," according to the article from The Athletic. "The Dodgers view a deal as unlikely, but the idea of it, at least, is not without logic.

"While Hernández has hit eight home runs with a combined .780 OPS the past two postseasons, he is also a big reason the Dodgers’ outfield defense ranked only 18th in Outs Above Average during the regular season," the article indicated.

"If the Dodgers trade Hernández, they could move Andy Pages to right, where he could be elite, and try to acquire a center fielder," Rosenthal and Mooney reported.

"Tommy Edman underwent surgery on his right ankle last month, so asking him to play center could be too much," the article indicated. "Moving Edman off second base might also thrust two largely unproven players, Hyeseong Kim and Alex Freeland, into more prominent roles.

"Hernández ranked 33rd of 36 players last season in Outs Above Average (minus-9) among right fielders," according to The Athletic. "The trade and free-agent markets, however, are short on right-handed hitting outfielders, and Hernández’s contract, while complex, is not prohibitively expensive.

"The 33-year-old is owed $12 million in 2026 and $14.5 million in ’27, with $8 million deferred each season," according to The Athletic. He is also guaranteed a $6.5 million buyout on a $15 million club option for 2028. If he undergoes surgery or spends 75 days on the injured list for an issue specified in the contract, the 2028 option becomes guaranteed, and a $15 million club option for 2029 is added."

With all of this information, which was thoroughly vetted by Rosenthal and Mooney, is a trade involving Hernández likely to take place? That's a big question. If the Dodgers could get a suitable player who can play better defense in the outfield, while also providing a solid bat at the plate, then Los Angeles general manager Brendan Gomes might pull the trigger on a deal.

Still, it will be worth watching to see if the Dodgers actually do anything at the Winter Meetings. They have enough financial backing to support any type of trades that go down. Let's see if Hernández remains with the Dodgers after next week's meetings take place in Orlando.
