Former Dodgers player spent two seasons with the Chicago Cubs and last season with the New York Yankees. Now, he's available. Would Los Angeles want him back?

Former National League Most Valuable Player Cody Bellinger spent last season with the New York Yankees, but he's available. Bellinger opted out of his contract with the Yankees, declining his player option, after spending the 2025 season in The Bronx.

Could Dodger Stadium see a reunion between Los Angeles and Bellinger? There's some word out on the street that it's possible.

Bellinger played his first six MLB seasons with the Dodgers, performing admirably at the plate and in the field. In 2017, when the Dodgers lost in the World Series to the Houston Astros, Bellinger won the National League Rookie of the Year award.

In his MVP season in 2019, Bellinger had a .305 batting average and an OBP of .406. He hit 47 home runs and had 115 RBIs. After a couple of rough seasons in 2020 and 2021, Bellinger ended up hitting .210 in his final year with the Dodgers.

When Bellinger signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs, he put together two pretty solid seasons, hitting .307 and .266 in 2022 and 2023, respectively. For the Yankees last season, Bellinger hit .272 with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs.

Bellinger has played as an outfielder and first baseman in his MLB career. The Dodgers definitely could use an upgrade or two in the outfield. Bellinger knows the Dodgers system pretty well and, as far as anyone can tell, is on good terms with Dodgers management and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, too.

A Bellinger comeback to Chavez Ravine probably would be welcome by Dodgers fans, too.

They remember when a player of Bellinger's talent delivered for the Dodgers in clutch situations.

Now, the Dodgers can put Bellinger's name down on their list heading into the Winter Meetings in early December. It'll be interesting to see if Bellinger does come back, though.
