Bryan Woo, coming off his first All-Star selection, was recognized as one of the best players in baseball

The Seattle Mariners have been one of the most well-represented teams across various marquee baseball events over the last year.

The Mariners had five All-Star selections last season, will be one of the best-represented teams in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, with players set to be featured on Team USA, Colombia, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Canada and others, and they're currently being recognized all over MLB's top 100 players list.

On Jan. 15, MLB Network released players ranked 60th-41st on their "Top 100 players right now" list.

Seattle starting pitcher, and 2025 All-Star, Bryan Woo clocked in at 42nd. He joined two teammates, fellow starter Logan Gilbert and first baseman Josh Naylor on the list.

Gilbert and Naylor ranked 72nd and 70th, respectively.

The 2025 season was the first All-Star selection of Woo's three-year major league career. He became the fourth hurler on the Mariners' starting rotation (Gilbert, George Kirby, Luis Castillo) to earn a trip to the Midsummer Classic.

Woo posted a 2.94 ERA with 198 strikeouts in 186.2 innings pitched across 30 starts. Twenty-one of his outings were quality starts.

Despite missing the final two weeks of the regular season and most of the playoffs with a pec injury, Woo was one of just two starters (in addition to Castillo) to not spend time on the injured list.

Woo returned for Seattle in the American League Championship Series and made two appearances out of the bullpen.

Woo's fastball was considered one of the most effective weapons in the major leagues this past season.

Despite having an average fastball velo of 95.6 mph, which ranked in the 71st percentile of baseball (per Baseball Savant), he had a fastball run value of 30, which ranked in the 100th percentile of baseball.

Woo offered his four-seam fastball 1,279 times and two-seamer (sinker) 698 times for a total of 1,977 fastballs thrown this past season. He threw his four-seamer more than his slider (275 times), sweeper (269) and changeup (193) combined.

Woo allowed an opposing batting average of just .153 with his four-seam fastball to go with a whiff rate of 28.8% and a put-away rate of 22.2%.

Before he was named the M's' Opening Day starter during spring training, Gilbert expressed his opinion that all five starters on the team's rotation were Opening Day-caliber hurlers.

Woo proved that assessment correct in 2025 and there's a very good chance he's rewarded and will be the first pitcher on the hill for the Mariners when they open the season against the Cleveland Guardians at 7:10 p.m. PT on March 26 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
