Are your blog posts stagnant? Do you want to add new life to them? Do you want to encourage engagement and generate a buzz around your work? You can do that with a few simple changes.

Avoid using first person pronouns like I and we.

This takes the focus off of you and puts it on your audience. Your readers don't need to know how great you are; they want to know what's in it for them.

Let your writing speak for itself by focusing on your reader, not yourself.

Use shorter sentences where possible.

Dense, overstuffed sentences are hard to read and harder to process, especially online. Cut out unnecessary words and phrases whenever you can.

Watch out for passive voice.

Passive voice removes the subject of the sentence from its role as "actor" and instead makes it the "receiver" of action, which is often vague or unstated.

Passive voice is more common in academic writing than in blog posts, but it's still something that you should watch out for as a blogger.
