RTB Token & NetworkIs The 'TAG' Necessary? - Engagement Ideas?
Tagging was a great idea, and worth exploring, but it 'can' become contrived, and does create 'pockets' and divisions within communities that focus attention on 'part of' the community and not the 'whole' - understandable and part of the process - but limited.
In many ways tagging highlights the limited capacity of the current version of BBS Network to fully engage the community.
That said, I am more than happy for people to continue to tag me, and if I see the tag in my feed, I generally go in and help them out.
Pattern Recognition
Being here since December last year, I have been interested to see how BBS develops and evolves. Time here provides an opportunity to add value and identify patterns.
From a personal perspective, I would now rather see how BBS goes in a real time live feed and releae of original content without the need to target and tag specific community members.
In other words, the community needs to evolve and understand - perhaps - the importance of engaging with content of their own interest and volition on the strength of the thread title and the H1 tags at the top of the post - that are visible - that introduce the post to the community - classic SEO in other words.
Exploration and Experimentation
BBS right now is about exploration and finding what works - it's about experimentation, and developing and improving systems. BBS is a developing project that is still finding its feet. A finished product it is not.
This is good and natural as it means there is constant improvement to be had.
DATA Miners
You and I are social engagement mining - we are not just mining BBS tokens, we are providing mining data. We can also call it adding value.
In informational terms, we unearth new gems and rare minerals at times, and sometimes we strike GOLD with our ability to identify patterns and new ways of approaching the BBS Network.
SEO
My suggestion would be to take a look at how you engage the community in the post title and in the H1 header. Ask a question there and then!
'Tagging' can be effectively completed by the above that is the invitation.
ALL community members who are on the platform and who are browsing by - organic linear searches - will see the content and the invitation.
Key point here?
A tag is not engagement. It is a contrived and targetted attempt to get eyes on a post. Think Google 10 years ago before the algorithms changed when keyword filling and sales copy tactics proliferated and prioritised marketed information in the top searches - not the best information.
That is where BBS is at now... just to put it into perspective.
Replies often result in 1 word or an emoji. That is fine. But let's not jump to conclusions or define it as engagement - it is not enagagement - it is 'tick box'.
A response is not engagement.
A conversation is engagement.
A tag is limited to 5 community members maximum, and in effect encourages favouritism, and by omission of the rest of the community, actually encourages exclusivity among chosen members.
Time for a rethink here - and that is a good thing!
Questions for your consideration:
- How would you improve enagement on the BBS Network?
- What do you think of tagging other members in the community?
- What is your experience?
- Anything else?
Thank you!Apr 29, 2022
