What is the purpose of a search feature?

Providing a search function that searches your Web pages is a design strategy that offers users a way to find content. Users can locate content by searching for specific words or phrases, without needing to understand or navigate through the structure of the Web site.

Why is a search button on a website important?

If you have a large site, a search bar allows your users to find what they're looking for quickly. If you have a well-developed blog, eCommerce site, or have hundreds of pages categorized, this could be very difficult for users to find what they're looking for just by clicking around
