Cross-domain Functionality - Phase 3
Last release we covered Phase 1 of cross-domain functionality:https://bbs.market/METABBS/posts/q0DcLXcyjUQqwyd70Vy7With cross-domain functionality, BBS members will be able to use a single account on each BBS within the BBS Network, no matter the domain they’re hosted on. Boards such as Star Wars Theory will no longer require their members to create a new account, instead using the same account across any domain on BBS Network. Boards hosted on other domains, such as THEORY, will also be viewable across any domain used by the same operator allowing seamless browsing between BBS domains. This is a massive improvement of the BBS Network framework which allows the network to operate cohesively and seamlessly for all users. Cross-domain functionality is also an integral step to pave the way for the BBS Network mobile app.
Phase one and two of this feature focused on the necessary database changes providing accounts with their BBS domain symbol to the account display name.

Several BBS Network members already have accounts on these domains. With 3.3.0 a new account option is added: Merge Accounts
If you’ve already created an account on different BBS Network domains, the Merge Accounts option can be selected in order to select a primary account to be used across BBS Network. You may merge any account which is linked with the same Legacy social media account or email (i.e. if the same Twitter, Google, Facebook, or email account is used to register for BBS on different domains, they will show up under ‘Merge Accounts’)
Merging accounts is a simple process, with secondary accounts forwarding all activity to the primary account, meaning by merging accounts you won’t lose any of your tokens already earned as they will be forwarded to the primary account.
After merging accounts and selecting a primary account, all secondary accounts will no longer be accessible as they will then forward transaction activity to the primary account automatically.
Account merging cannot be reversed so make sure to select the primary account you’d like to use across all of BBS Network.
Please note, if an account is the active owner of a BBS, then they will not be able to be merged as a secondary account and must transfer ownership of the BBS before the account can be merged into another.
Transferring BBS Ownership
With 3.3.0, BBS owners will now be able to transfer ownership of their board to another member. This has been a commonly requested feature and also goes along with cross-domain functionality as members are able to transfer their board ownership to the primary account they’d like to use before merging.
The feature to transfer BBS ownership can be found, as a BBS owner, within their BBS options. Transferring ownership cannot be reversed so please be careful when transferring ownership of a BBS.
Comment Tag Muting
3.3.0 also includes the ability to mute notifications from select users comment tags.
In order to mute tags from a user, navigate to their profile, click their profile options, and toggle the “Mute tagging” feature. Once enabled, any comment that user tags you in will no longer send you a notification.
Comment GIFs and Markdown Formatting
All comments now support basic markdown formatting, including the ability to add a GIF or other image to a comment!
Basic markdown formatting can be used in comments as follows:
In order to add an image or GIF to a comment, use the “Image” element formatting to include it into a comment! For example:
Try one yourself!
