I have a question for the community and site devs… Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to all BBS sites to eliminate regular impressions by only allowing impressions, promotion, and likes to be left only while the posts are open?
I think this might have a few different positive effects on the way users leave feedback. If a user can’t like or sponsor without opening the post first, that user has to make a clear decision on that post’s content. “Am I interested enough to open it and leave feedback?” This could possibly instantly boost the unique impressions for all BBS and eliminate the practice of promoting and liking without contributing to unique impressions.
This may also encourage a step up in published content quality by encouraging longer posts, and users to open short posts they may not have before. If the entirety of a post is visible without opening it, what incentive is there for users to open the post and leave a unique impression? Probably only if they feel the need to leave a comment. If feedback or promotion could only be done if the post is opened, posts of this nature may receive more unique impressions, which would boost the site’s score.
Thanks for looking, and let me know what you think in the comments.
