Correct me if I’m wrong, but currently BBS’ EM advertising campaign and any users running ad campaigns supply the cashable bonuses to publishers. The advertiser with the highest CPM set gets their ad displayed in the banner of every post until someone starts a campaign with, or raises an existing one to, a higher CPM. My question is….. When outside advertisers decide to invest in BBS will only the advertiser with the highest CPM set have their ad displayed in every post’s banner as it is now? Is there consideration for having multiple advertisers paying out bonuses simultaneously?
The new impression limit update has me thinking about what advertisers would really be willing to pay for. Seems to me, unless there are multiple advertisers constantly upping the CPM of their campaigns throughout a 24 hour period to hold the ad banners (suggesting a limited group of users are seeing ads from multiple advertisers daily), an advertiser occupying the banner for an entire 24 hour period would only care about the number of unique users that visit the board and open one post during that period. If each of those users visits just one post, they’ve seen the ad for the day and the advertiser can’t be expected to want to pay them to see it any more for that day. That would also mean that after the unique visit has been logged, and a single post viewed, engagement means little to the advertiser.
Suppose there were tiers to the advertising system to allow for multiple advertisers to have ads running on the same board simultaneously. Say, the amount of engagement a post generates allows it to climb multiple tiers. Each tier has a specific CPM and and each tier would allow for a different advertiser. As a post’s engagement numbers increase it moves to a higher tier with a higher CPM and different advertiser/ad.
In this system multiple advertisers could pay for the activity of a limited number of daily users and feel like they were reaching enough viewers for the amount paid. (Of course you’d need a large user base to attract multiple advertisers…) It would also allow for more advertisers to run campaigns simultaneously on the same board greatly increasing publisher bonuses and incentivizing board usage.
Hope this isn’t a waste of anyone’s time. 🙏
