Post promotion is the method used to curate content across BBS Network. Members can stake their reputation in order to predict how many visits a post will receive in an open process. Posts with higher predictions are ranked higher on the board. Promoters must stake their reputation to predict post visits, and will also receive one reputation for each visitthe post receives during the promotion period.
Promoting a post can earn or cost reputation depending on the post and the prediction. A post that is predicted to receive 100 visits , but ends up receiving 150 visits will generate more reputation than that was staked for the promotion. Conversely, if a post is predicted to receive 100 visits but only receives 50 visits, then the amount of reputation staked will be greater than the amount of reputation the post has generated for a net loss.
It may sound complicated at first, but the gist of it is that if you promote posts with accurate or below-target predictions you'll earn Reputation, since you will earn reputation from every visit the post receives while you're the promoter. If the prediction is too low, someone else might decide to use their Reputation to become the promoter instead - earning you a small net reputation gain but the new promoter could earn more from future views!
Posts across BBS Network are ranked by their current promoter’s prediction. Posts are published without a promoter, and will start with no prediction at 0 reputation staked. Publishers have the opportunity to become the post’s promoter during its creation.
Posts start with no prediction, and the first prediction made must be at least 10 visits.
The minimum prediction for subsequent promotions must be higher than the current number of visits, and at least 30% higher than the current prediction.
The max prediction is determined by the current number of visits and your current available reputation.
To encourage quick predictions, ⅓ of the difference between the selected prediction and the minimum will be discounted from the required staked amount
Ex.: If the minimum prediction is 100 visits, and the selected prediction is 130, only 120 staked reputation will be required

Examples:
Post A is promoted by predicting a minimum 100 visits by staking 100 reputation. Each visit the post receives will generate 1 Reputation for the promoter.
Publishers will also have the ability to promote their own post during creation.
This will allow publishers to utilize any applicable discount to their promotion and make sure they have the chance to promote their post first.
Publishers will also receive one reputation for each visit their post receives along with the promoter.
