Step by Step Tutorial - Running an Ad Campaign - Tips and Gotchas

Here is a step by step tutorial on how to create an ad campaign with some tips and one very big Gotcha. Plus you can see the results of my first experiment.

To run an ad campaign on a post first go to your banner page. In the example below replace 'yourname' with your actual user name.

Edit your banner by clicking on the edit icon on the top right of the banner.

Add an image.

Tip: It's better to use a smaller size image because a large one takes a long time to upload.

Add your text and a link to the post you want to advertise.

When you are happy with how the banner looks Save it.

Click on the "Add banner" or "Restart" button in the Advertising box depending on which one you see. 

Ad CPMs are boosted so don't get confused with the amount like I did the first time. I had assumed that I had to go higher than the current top bid shown on the form.

You can see in my original banner where I went wrong.

Fortunately, I only spent $1 at this rate and this is the result:

The way to find out what the current bid price is when CPMs are boosted is to look at the current banner on a post.

When you have determined the current CPM bid, enter the Deposit Amount you want to spend and the Max CPM just a little higher than the current ad running.

Tip: The Deposit Amount is deducted from your Cashable balance not your Community Token balance.

Click on the Update button if you have set a price before and want to update it.

Create the campaign by clicking on the "Create" button.

Go to any post and check the banner at the top is yours.

Your ad campaign is up and running!

Tip: Don't waste your ad campaign by being the one who clicks on all the posts. Resume browsing when your ad campaign is over 😂

To monitor the progress of your campaign navigate to your profile page revenue tab. Go to the Advertising box at the bottom and you will see the progress there.

The Advertising box shows all the impressions that your ad has appeared on.

Tip: Currently, the list of impressions for an ad campaign is overwritten by the next campaign and I can't find any history. So take a screenshot or copy/paste the list items to a document to save them.
