Psychological studies show that notifications from receiving ๐Ÿ‘ on posts and comments triggers a release of dopamine in our brains which literally makes us feel good and crave more. Sadly, I think everyone would agree that platform use is at an all time low which is, of course, reflective in the amount of ๐Ÿ‘ being left. Given the amount of ๐Ÿ‘ notifications has decreased, its only logical to speculate that the good feelings that made people use and visit the platform en mass decreased as well.

I see it as a bit of a catch 22โ€ฆ  if there are less ๐Ÿ‘ and comments overall, whatโ€™s the motivation for people to publish? If thereโ€™s redundant, low quality, or very little new content whatโ€™s the motivation for people to react, let alone visit the platform?
Could it be possible to take advantage of the  physiological effect of likes and use it to incentivize all aspects of platform use by allowing unregistered and unjoined to simply ๐Ÿ‘ or ๐Ÿ‘Ž registered usersโ€™ comments and posts? Could the simple increase in ๐Ÿ‘ numbers show all users, registered and non, that thereโ€™s actually more people viewing their posts and comments than they realize and incentivize them to publish and react more. Could the increased ๐Ÿ‘ numbers incentivize potential new registrants to join as well?
To the best of my knowledge ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Ž are not tied to earnings and are not a large part of site scores (if any part at all) so I canโ€™t see a detriment to this suggestion if it increases platform use at all.
As always, let me know what you think in the comments and thanks for taking the time to read this. ๐Ÿ™
