Many of the old and successful members of BBS has left. Eyal has been making posts about changes to come that may bring some life back to BBS. For the few OG's that are still present in BBS, the title of the Ted Talk by Anne Mahlum. "There Is No Way This Will Work" seems to sum up their expectations of what Eyal says.
Anne was 32 years old at the time she gave the Ted Talk. She had a good childhood and a happy family life until she was 16 years old. (The first 1.5 years of BBS were good) Then things happened that turned her world up side down. For most of her twenties, she had no self worth and self value.
The discipline of taking up running to the stage of being able to run marathons enabled her to get some semblance of success in spite of her low self worth and self value.
Will the determination of the few who remain in BBS to plod on keep BBS alive?
I am no way as successful as many who have left or the few other OG's that remain.
In fact, you can say that I am a huge failure in life. Burdened with a mega inferiority complex, I underachieved both academically and career wise.
Like the homeless men that Anne ran past, I need affirmation to help me believe in myself and not be not so negative about myself.
I am a fledgling work in progress with a long long way to go in being rehabilitated.
So the Ted Talk by Anne is a great encouragement to me and my attempt to use BBS to reach out to others who are struggling like me.
Anne's sharing about her painful past and her struggles that have brought hope and self belief to many people is a great encouragement.
Hopefully, I and others like me will also be transformed and succeed
Stories about my past and those of my friends, Dawn and Eric, are found in the BBS board, ME MORE aka Memories Of The Way We Were.
I was getting discouraged by the lack of success of MEMORE and have not updated it for quite long.
Coming across the video of Anne has encouraged to not give up but to start posting in MEMORE again.
Dawn, Eric and me hope that more people will join us there. We hope that our sharing of our Memories and present will encourage others who struggle like us.
Just like how Anne made it her mission to help homeless men gain self value and self with, Dawn, Eric and me has made it a mission to use MEMORE to reach out to fellow strugglers🦋
Anne was told that her plans for the homeless people will not work. But she made them work. Her organization is still growing and has helped many people.
DO YOU THINK BBS WILL SUCCEED?
I hope so. And I hope that I and my Boards in BBS will grow together with BBS 🙏🙏
