It’s really not important (or very helpful) if comments are organized by descending number of reactions, especially if threads can’t be followed by the actual commenters or future visitors to the post.
If users select to organize the comments by “New”, it becomes slightly more comprehendible but the way that is organized is odd as well. Thread starting comments are still on top, while all the replies below it are reversed, so the first response is on the opposite end of the comment thread, farthest away from the starter comment.
I also notice that the first reply to a comment no longer automatically tags the commenter. While that’s not a major issue for those that are familiar with the platform, and new changes to it, users unfamiliar will undoubtedly be confused when all other replies feature a tag of the commenter being replied to.
With the trouble the platform is having bringing in new users, and keeping the ones we have, I would think the readability and comprehension of content on the platform would be of the utmost priority. That being said, I don’t think we’ve seen much concern for this as there have been multiple posts and no solution has been mentioned. Sadly, it wasn’t addressed in the weekly chat either.
Thanks for your time.
