ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif., Aug. 24 (KNN) – A rescue operation was deployed after a vehicle left the roadway and crashed down steep terrain in the Angeles National Forest shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol officers responded to a vehicle that went off the road at Glendora Mountain Road and Upper Monroe Fire Road in Angeles National Forest, just north of Glendora.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department airship was dispatched to assist in locating the vehicle, which was found approximately 300 feet down the hillside from the road. Firefighters discovered the driver outside the car with the driver’s door open.
LACoFD’s helicopter 18 conducted the rescue operation. The victim inside the vehicle was airlifted to a separate location and subsequently transported by ambulance to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Authorities have not yet determined if speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. CHP is handling the investigation into the incident.
