SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES, July 22 (KNN) – A fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian occurred around 9:45 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Polk Street and De Garmo Avenue in the Sylmar neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the scene and shut down Polk Street in both directions to conduct a full investigation.
According to an LAPD news release of the incident, a black truck was traveling east on Polk Street when it struck a pedestrian walking north, just west of De Garmo Avenue, outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle continued east on Polk Street without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.
The LAPD stated in the release that the victim is a Hispanic male in his mid-twenties. His name is being withheld at this time by the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiners Office pending notification of next of kin.
