The Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division officers responded to an “assault with a deadly weapon, suspect there now” call at 8:20 p.m. in the 5400 block of Monterey Road, where they confronted a man who was reportedly armed with a knife. Police said the officers shot the man, and he was taken into custody.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the suspect to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for gunshot wounds and is listed in stable condition, according to the LAPD.

A knife was recovered at the scene and was booked as evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and no officers or civilians were injured.
