At approximately 5:15 p.m., the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire near Tierra Subida Avenue and Avenue Q-8 (Celtic Drive) in Palmdale.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a shed fully engulfed in flames. The fire had spread to the surrounding yard and then extended to the main residence.

Fire crews entered the home and discovered eight dogs on the second floor. Several of the animals were in distress, and one was believed to be deceased. Animal control was requested to assist with the care and evaluation of the dogs.

Crews conducted a full search of the residence, which was described as having “pack rat” conditions, making navigation difficult. No human occupants were located inside the home.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported.
