Coming up on Saturday night in Broadbeach, Australlia, unbeaten, IBF cruiserweight titleholder Jai Opetaia will meet Huseyin Cinkara, streaming live on Stan Pay-Per-View. The card’s main event features arguably the division's most dangerous fighter in his latest defense.
Opetaia (28-0, 22 KOs) enters the bout on a roll. The Australian star was last in action against in June when he demolished Claudio Squeo in a fifth round TKO retaining his world title. That followed his brutal knockout victory over David Nyika in four rounds back in January. Widely regarded now as the top fighter "Down Under" Opetaia combines power, precision, and athleticism, which has led to six straight wins in world title fights with five of them ending early.
The opponent, Cinkara (23-0, 19 KOs), meanwhile, brings an undefeated record to the biggest opportunity of his career, but not a lot of notoriety. The German-based fighter has demonstrated knockout power throughout his rise, with wins over lesser fighters like Juan Diaz and Armend Xhoxhaj over the last two years. However, he has yet to compete at the elite level Opetaia operates in, leaving many analysts skeptical about his chances of dethroning the reigning champion. Despite his perfect record, Cinkara enters the contest as a significant underdog in this one.
The PPV main event Opetaia's promoter, Tasmin Fighters, is scheduled for Saturday morning in the U.S. with the broadcast beginning at 7 a.m. ET (12 p.m. GMT). Fans can catch the full fight card live exclusively on Stan Pay-Per-View out of Australia.
Opetaia's camp is not happy with Mexican Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez, the unified WBO/WBA champ at cruiserweight, who they thought that they had an agreement with to fight a three belt, unification battle with for the middle of 2026. However, Ramirez, who had shoulder surgery earlier this year is fighting a tune-up and then, will apparently battle WBC light heavyweight champ David Benavidez, instead of Opetaia, in a Las Vegas PPV in May.
In addition to the main event, the card features several compelling matchups, including a heavyweight rematch between Justis Huni, a Queensland native and Kiki Leutele of New Zealand. Huni had a wild fight back in June in England, where he was winning on the cards and upsetting British contender Fabio Wardley headed in the late rounds. However, Wardley landed a booming right hand and Huni could not beat the count for his first pro loss after 12 consecutive victories. The rematch Saturday is from a 10 round decision Huni won over Leutele in 2022.
