"First title defense is always exciting. I feel like that's where you really mark yourself as a true champion. Winning the title is one thing, but defending it is when you are truly crowned," Carrington told Rafael."

As for he plans in the likely event he's victorious,

“I want to unify immediately. I don’t want to take too much time because there’s not a lot of fighters that are in the featherweight division. There’s not any fighter in the featherweight division that’s been unifying their titles, and all the sanctioning bodies have been occupied in the featherweight division for some time now. Every single belt has been occupied for a period of time now.

“And there’s no fights going on. It’s kind of weird, but I feel like for me, I’m the guy that’s going to be able to make that push for things to start happening, and after that I want to become undisputed.”

As for Saturday night, Palacios is 19-0-1, 10 KOs, and has won eight consecutive fights since the only blemish on his record, a majority draw against Israel Gasparrillo.

However, the truth is- the 25 year old Mexican hasn't been in with anyone as talented as Shu Shu.  And, Carrington is the overwhelming favorite to defeat him.

Within the featherweight division the WBO champion is Rafael Espinoza, who's successfully defended four times and is also promoted by Top Rank Boxing. So, on the surface, that would be an easy unification to make. However, they may want to let Shu Shu make another defense back in NYC before taking on the challenge of the towering 6'0 featherweight Espinoza.

It's also possible that Carrington might fight newly crowned WBA champ Brandon Figueroa, who just went to England and upset champion Nick Ball with a stirring late round TKO.

The possibilities are definitely there, but business in Cleveland's Wolstein Center is the first priority is get it done with Palacios Saturday night.
