Junior Middleweight contenders Vergil Oritz and Erickson Lubin will battle for the WBC interim title in the Golden Boy Promotions main event Saturday night in the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX.

Coming up Saturday night it's the Golden Boy Promotions main event and one of boxing’s most anticipated events at the end of this year, as Vergil Ortiz battles Erickson Lubin, live from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

On Thursday the fighters met for their final press conference with Ortiz Jr. (23-0, 21 KOs) and  Lubin (27-2, 19 KOs) trading mutual respect and subtle warnings ahead of their likely explosive 12-round battle for the WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Title.

For Ortiz, the undefeated knockout sensation from Grand Prairie, TX, this fight marks both a homecoming and a proving ground. “Lubin probably has the best resume at 154 right now,” Ortiz said. “That’s why I took this fight. I want to fight the best. People underestimate how dangerous this fight is, but at the end of the day, it’s just me and him in the ring — and that’s all that matters," he said Thursday.

Lubin, the fearless contender from Orlando, FL, radiated confidence as he spoke about seizing his moment in enemy territory. “I’ve always wanted to fight the best,” he said. “Vergil’s ranked number one by Ring Magazine, and a big win puts me right where I belong — at the top. It’s been a long time coming, and I don’t care if it’s in his backyard. I’m ready to show I’m the best fighter at 154 pounds.”

Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya hailed the matchup as one for the purists — a collision of power and precision between two of the division’s brightest stars. And, the winner is in a position to battle unbeaten, former unified welterweight champ Jaron "Boots" Ennis in the fist part of 2026.

Meanwhile, the undercard has rising talent and knockout potential, as well.

In the co-main event, Houston’s Darius “DFG” Fulghum (14-1, 12 KOs) will face David “Dynamite” Stevens (15-2, 10 KOs) for the WBA Continental North America Super Middleweight Title. Plus, undefeated middleweight prospect Amari “The Reaper” Jones (14-0, 12 KOs) makes his Golden Boy debut against Shady Gamhour (14-2, 9 KOs), while heavyweight Olympian Joshua “Rocket” Edwards (4-0, 4 KOs) continues his rise against Zeno Vooris (5-1, 5 KOs).

From top to bottom, the Ortiz vs. Lubin card promises an electric night of boxing — where power meets pride, and two elite fighters battle for supremacy at 154 pounds. As Lubin put it best: “Everybody tune in Saturday night — it’s Hammer time.”
