Unbeaten junior middleweight contender Vergil Ortiz delivered another huge, early knockout of former world title challenger Erickson Lubin on Saturday night in Fort Worth, TX.

It didn't take long for Vergil Oritz to re-established that he's one of the top punchers in the world at 154 lb.

Ortiz (24-0, 22 KOs) continued his undefeated streak in dominant fashion, earning a second-round TKO victory over Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (27-3, 19 KOs) in the Golden Boy Promotions main event at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena. The WBC Interim Super Welterweight Champion from Grand Prairie, Texas, wasted no time asserting control, pressuring Lubin from the opening bell. Midway through Round 2, Ortiz trapped Lubin on the ropes and unleashed a barrage of heavy shots, prompting the referee to halt the fight at 1:30. The event, presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with ProBox TV, was broadcast live on DAZN.

The compelling win has put Ortiz in prime position for bigger bouts. More on that in a moment.

First after the quick night, an obviously elated Ortiz reflected on his performance, emphasizing patience and intelligence, as well as power, as key factors. “There wasn’t much to evaluate — I just capitalized on his mistakes,” he said. “People think I’m just a come-forward fighter, but I can be smart too.”

Confident and composed, Ortiz also sent a message to potential challengers: “We’re ready for the best — Boots, come over here!” referring to rising junior middleweight and former unified, welterweight world champ, Jaron “Boots” Ennis. Ennis was ringside Saturday night in Texas to watch the Ortiz destruction. And, he'd clearly like a massive contender showdown bout with Ortiz in the fist part of 2026.

In the co-main event, Darius “DFG” Fulghum (14-1-1, 12 KOs) and David “Dynamite” Stevens (15-2-1, 10 KOs) fought to a majority-decision draw in a competitive 10-round super middleweight bout, with scorecards reading 96-94, 95-95, and 95-95. Meanwhile, Amari “The Reaper” Jones (15-0, 13 KOs) made an explosive Golden Boy debut, stopping Shady Gamhour (14-3, 9 KOs) in Round 3 after scoring two knockdowns.

Heavyweight prospect Joshua “Rocket” Edwards (5-0, 5 KOs) maintained his perfect knockout record with a third-round TKO over Zeno Vooris (5-6, 5 KOs). The fight was halted by the ringside doctor due to severe cuts above Vooris’s right eye. In cruiserweight action, Robin Safar (19-0, 13 KOs) captured the WBA Continental Americas Title with a dominant unanimous-decision win over previously unbeaten Derick Miller Jr. (18-1, 10 KOs), winning by scores of 99-90, 99-90, and 98-91.

The prelims featured a mix of tight battles and early finishes. Eric “The Korean Cowboy” Priest (16-0-1, 8 KOs) fought Esneiker Correa (16-6-2, 14 KOs) to a split draw after eight rounds, while Amarillo’s Javier Meza (5-0, 2 KOs) remained undefeated with a unanimous-decision win over Joshua Briones (3-5-1, 2 KOs). Opening the night, Sam Castellanos (4-0, 3 KOs) from Gilroy, California, scored a quick second-round TKO over Ricardo Elizalde (0-2), setting the tone for a night filled with action and impressive performances.
