The Spanish driver analyzed Aston Martin’s difficult start to the season and explained why he believes the Chinese Grand Prix could offer a different scenario for the team as they continue working on the car’s development.

The start of the season has created a complex scenario for Aston Martin within the Formula 1 grid. Reliability issues and inconsistent performance marked the opening sessions of the year, forcing the team to rethink part of its technical approach while trying to stabilize the car’s behavior.

In that context, Fernando Alonso analyzed the team’s situation with a broader perspective. The Spanish driver explained that, despite the initial difficulties, the immediate calendar could offer opportunities to find a more competitive direction.

The two-time world champion pointed out that the Chinese Grand Prix represents an interesting scenario to evaluate the true potential of the car. According to him, the Shanghai circuit usually presents different characteristics compared to other tracks on the calendar, and that could open a performance window for Aston Martin.

“I think China can be a good opportunity for us,” Alonso said while referring to the upcoming race weekend. The Spaniard emphasized that the team is still in a phase of understanding the new car and that every circuit provides valuable information for development.

Beyond the measured optimism, the driver also acknowledged that the car’s development process will be gradual. “We are still learning many things about the car,” he explained while referring to the work Aston Martin has been doing since the start of the championship.

In that sense, Alonso insisted that the team’s priority is to accumulate mileage and data that will allow them to improve the technical package. The new generation of cars introduced in this stage requires constant adjustments in areas such as aerodynamic balance and power unit management.

The Spaniard also emphasized that the final performance does not depend only on the car’s potential, but on how the team manages to interpret each race weekend. “Every circuit is different and we have to understand how the car works at each one,” he explained while analyzing the adaptation process.

Within Aston Martin, they believe that this gradual understanding will be key to recovering competitiveness throughout the season. The team has made significant investments in its technical structure and hopes that work will translate into sustained results in the medium term.

In that context, Alonso explained that the immediate objective is not focused solely on the result of a single race. The driver highlighted that the team is in a technical building phase that requires patience and constant evaluation of the car’s performance.

“We are trying to improve step by step,” he said while describing the approach Aston Martin is taking for the upcoming rounds of the calendar.

Ultimately, the Chinese Grand Prix appears as a new benchmark to measure the project’s progress. The Shanghai circuit usually presents particular challenges in terms of aerodynamic balance and tire degradation, factors that can provide valuable information for the team.

With the championship still in its early stages, the real impact of these adjustments will begin to be seen as Aston Martin gains a better understanding of the car’s behavior across different circuits on the calendar.
