The Mexican returns to Austria with the intention of repeating the podium he achieved in 2023. The Spielberg circuit, with its long straights and only ten corners, favors aggressive drivers.

Sergio Pérez faces the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend with the intention of continuing to grow in his new stage at Cadillac, the Red Bull Ring has traditionally been a favorable circuit for the Mexican, who has scored points in eight of the eleven races he has contested at the Austrian track.

His best result at this venue came in 2023, when he managed to get on the podium by finishing in third position after a spectacular comeback in which he advanced 12 places. The Red Bull Ring, located in Spielberg (Styria state, Austria), is one of the most distinctive circuits in Formula 1 due to its design, which combines long straights with only 10 corners, favoring aggressive drivers and cars with good top speed.

The track is 4.318 kilometers long and the race is run over 71 laps, totaling more than 306 kilometers of competition. It is a track where overtaking is usually an important part of the race, which adds spectacle and excitement to the weekend.

Pérez's history in Austria shows varied but consistent results, the Mexican has competed at the Red Bull Ring with different teams (Sauber, Force India, Racing Point and Red Bull) and has always managed to maintain a competitive level, his best results include a sixth place in 2014 and 2020, a seventh in 2017, 2018 and 2024, and the aforementioned third place in 2023, which remains his best performance at the Austrian circuit.

The 2023 podium was especially significant because it demonstrated his ability to come from behind and fight against the best drivers on the grid.

Max Verstappen is the driver with the most recent wins at the Red Bull Ring, with five triumphs at this track that have allowed him to consolidate his dominance at the Austrian circuit, the Dutchman has made this venue one of his favorites and arrives at this weekend's race with the intention of extending his win tally.

However, the RB22 is not being competitive this season, and Verstappen will have to give his maximum to fight for victory.

For Pérez, the Austrian GP is an important test to measure his adaptation to Cadillac and confirm whether he can still fight for good results in the top category. The combination of experience, strategy, and the characteristics of the Red Bull Ring could give him a new opportunity to shine, as he already did in 2023.

The Mexican hopes that the American team can take a step forward on a circuit where top speed and aerodynamic efficiency are determining factors.
