De la Rosa Celebrates Aston Martin’s Calculated Risk

Aston Martin has taken a step forward in recent races and Pedro de la Rosa has not hesitated to attribute much of the merit to a brave and risky strategy. The British team's ambassador has praised the decision to introduce significant upgrades to the AMR26 despite the uncertainties that entailed: "It was one of the best moments we have had" declared De la Rosa, underlining the positive impact of the upgrades on the car's performance.

The 2026 season had started in a complicated way for Aston Martin, with a car that could not find the pace of its direct rivals. However, the team decided to bet on an aggressive upgrade package that, according to De la Rosa, has changed the team's dynamic. "We made a risky but necessary decision. We knew we had to make a quality leap if we wanted to compete in the midfield and fortunately the upgrades have worked" explained the Spaniard.

Veteran Aston Martin engineer set to leave the team at the end of the 2026 season.

Tom McCullough joined the team in 2014 when it was called Force India and later Racing Point. He started in F1 back in 2002 and has worked for teams like Williams and Sauber.

"Alarms on the Car": Alonso Retires in Canada Sprint to Save Aston Martin for Qualifying

The mirage lasted only a few hours for Aston Martin in Canada, Fernando Alonso had managed to get his car into SQ2 of sprint qualifying, a small moral victory for a team that has been fighting against itself all season, but Saturday's sprint race returned the green team to its reality, the Asturian retired on lap 18, victim of the reliability problems that give him no respite.

Saturday started badly for Alonso, although not definitively. On the first corner of the sprint, the Spaniard had a small touch with Gabriel Bortoleto in the middle of the start melee, the contact damaged his front wing and he lost part of the endplate, although he was able to continue without the immediate need to pit. From there, the Aston Martin progressively lost pace and positions, unable to sustain the level shown on a single lap on Friday, because even on the team's best Saturday of the year, there was still a feeling that much of the miracle bore the exclusive stamp of the Asturian.

The 10 Youngest Drivers to Win a Grand Prix in F1 History

Verstappen leads the list as the youngest winner in Formula 1 history. He was 18 years and 7 months old when he won in Spain in 2016. It’s worth noting that it was his debut with Red Bull after coming from Toro Rosso, and the weekend was chaotic from the start with the crash between the two Mercedes on the first lap. Thanks to that and suddenly, the Dutchman found himself in the lead and held off the constant pressure from Kimi Raikkonen to cross the line by just six-tenths.

Antonelli appears second at 19 years and 6 months after his recent triumph in Shanghai. He started from the back, moved up and held off George Russell and the Ferraris without making mistakes. He ended up winning by a five-second margin and couldn’t hide his happiness once the race was over, crying with emotion.
