Bortoleto Praised Alonso: “He’s the Same in Private as in Public”
Fernando Alonso is exactly the same on and off camera, at least that's what Gabriel Bortoleto assures, Audi driver and represented by the two-time world champion through his A14 Management agency, the Brazilian who faces his second season in Formula 1, has had the opportunity to meet the Asturian in his most private side and his conclusion is clear: there are not two versions of Alonso, but only one, authentic and unfiltered.
"He's very direct when he's in front of the cameras, he's just as he shows himself, one of his qualities is that he doesn't fake it, so I think people know how he is" Bortoleto explained during his participation in the podcast The Fast And The Curious. The young 21-year-old driver especially highlighted Alonso's sense of humor: "I love that he's often very sarcastic about many things, people already know it but most of the time he's being sarcastic and it's very funny. I laugh a lot with that" he added.
The relationship between the two transcends that of manager and client, Alonso has been a key figure in the development of Bortoleto who debuted in Formula 1 in 2025 with Sauber before Audi took control of the Swiss team. The Asturian has not spared praise towards the Brazilian and described him as "the best rookie of this generation" after his sixth place in the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, a performance that impressed the Spaniard.
"He makes few mistakes, he's always pushing. If he were English or something like that and had finished sixth with a Sauber, tomorrow he would be in all the news. What he does is exceptional" Alonso declared at that time. The backing of the two-time world champion has been fundamental for the progression of Bortoleto who has found in A14 Management the necessary support to consolidate himself in the elite of motorsport.
Bortoleto is part of a long list of drivers represented by Alonso's agency among which are Maximilian Gunther, Clement Novalak, Dino Beganovic, Pepe Martí, Sebastian Montoya, Chloe Chambers, Cenyu Han, Andres Cardenas and Carl Bennett. The presence of the Asturian in the management of young talents reflects his commitment to the future of the sport and his interest in transmitting his experience to the new generations.
On the sporting side, Bortoleto has started his second season with a firm step, after finishing 19th in the Drivers' World Championship during his debut, the Brazilian currently occupies 14th position with 10 points, surpassing his experienced teammate Nico Hulkenberg, who is 15th with seven points. A fact that confirms his progression and his ability to compete on equal terms with drivers of greater trajectory.
The figure of Alonso as manager and mentor is an invaluable asset for Bortoleto, the Asturian, who continues competing in Formula 1 with Aston Martin, has known how to combine his sporting career with the management of an agency that represents some of the most promising drivers on the international scene.
His direct style, his sarcasm and his honesty are qualities that far from being an obstacle, have become hallmarks that make him unique. Bortoleto knows it and values it, the relationship between the two is solid and the future of the Brazilian in Formula 1 promises to be marked by the unconditional support of one of the great names in the history of the sport.
