Cadillac Unveils Big Plans for Pérez and Bottas in Monaco

Cadillac is heading to Monaco looking to build on the positive momentum generated at the Canadian Grand Prix, where Sergio Pérez managed to battle inside the midfield. This weekend will mark the American outfit's first-ever participation at one of the most iconic events on the Formula 1 calendar — the Monaco Grand Prix.
Team principal Graeme Lowdon, speaking to GrandPrix247, confirmed the squad would be introducing a package of improvements for the Monaco weekend. He acknowledged that for any team, but especially a brand-new one, Monaco represents an enormous challenge.
While the street circuit does present opportunities given its unpredictability, he stressed that the team's objectives would be to implement some additional improvements and to get through the weekend without incidents. Lowdon noted that being measured against the same standards as every other team reflects elevated expectations, but that with only six races in their debut season, the focus remains firmly on progress and building momentum.
He described Monaco as a milestone — the team's first European race and one of the most demanding weekends on the calendar — and said that every race has represented a step forward, with heads down, hard work, and an accelerating pace of progress.
What happened with Cadillac at the Canadian GP?
Sergio Pérez was once again Cadillac's standout performer in Canadian Grand Prix, outpacing teammate Valtteri Bottas across the entire weekend. The Mexican driver pulled the American car into midfield contention — something that had seemed a distant prospect at the start of the season.
Bottas, meanwhile, has entered what appears to be a prolonged slump in form, one that has fueled speculation about a potential early exit from the team given performances that have fallen short of expectations. It is no secret that Cadillac is actively seeking opportunities to promote IndyCar star Colton Herta.
Remarkably, Pérez has also been the subject of rumors, though from a completely different angle — other F1 teams are reportedly monitoring the Mexican driver as a potential upgrade for their own lineups. For Pérez himself, such interest could represent an opportunity to move to a team at a more advanced stage in its development.
Nothing has been confirmed, but the driver market could produce some genuinely interesting moves in the near future. The upcoming European leg before the summer break will therefore be decisive in shaping what comes next.
