While we couldn’t remember in the moment, Liana was right with her prediction that there would be a do not start (DNS) within the first three races. Isack Hadjar had a DNS in the first race at Australia, making for an emotional moment at his first F1 race.
Liana’s next prediction was that it would be an awful Australia. She was pretty correct there as well, especially in her opinion as some of her favorites didn’t perform well. Because it was a rainy race, there was a DNS as well as 5 drivers that didn’t finish the race, Jack Doohan, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Gabriel Bortoleto, Liam Lawson.
I had a lot more predictions than Liana, my first being the Jack Doohan, who drove for Alpine at the beginning of the season, would be replaced. I was correct with this prediction with Doohan being replaced by Franco Colapinto within five races. On top of this I also thought that there would be a Redbull/VCARB driver mixup, which happened at the Japanese Grand Prix with Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson switching seats.
My next prediction was that there would be a Maxterclass (Max Verstappen masterclass) in the rain or in Brazil. There was definitely a Maxterclass at Brazil with Verstappen going from the pit lane to third place and he also had a good performance in the rain at Australia.
I predicted that the Monaco Grand Prix would be the most boring race and that Brazil would be the best, which Liana decided is a cheap prediction since that is kind of a given.
I thought that McLaren and Ferrari would both have 1-2 finishes, and unfortunately I was only half right. I also thought that there would be 5 race winners throughout the season, and while I was close, there were only four. One that I did get right was that Oscar Piastri would get his first pole position, which he achieved at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Another thing that I got right was that there would be a rookie on the podium at some point, and there was actually two with Kimi Antonelli and Isack Hadjar. I also got it right that Nico Hulkenberg would get points for Sauber and not only that but he got his first podium in F1.
My last couple random predictions were that McLaren’s Papaya Rules would cause issues throughout the season, which definitely came true throughout the championship battle. Lastly I thought that Ferrari would win in Monza, and unfortunately I had too much faith in the team.
We both predicted that the World Drivers Championship would be decided at Las Vegas like it had the season prior, but the championship wasn’t decided until the final race in Abu Dhabi. We also both predicted that the Constructors Championship would be decided in Abu Dhabi, but it was decided much earlier at the Singapore Grand Prix.
We also made our predictions for the Destructors Championship for the team who crashed the most. I predicted that Alpine would be champion, while Liana predicted it would be VCARB. While we agreed that we thought it was Alpine, the "Destroyers List" says that Gabriel Bortoleto cost the team the most in damage, making it Sauber instead.
