An official report from the category points to the French team as the great dominator of the midfield in Miami. Haas and Racing Bulls will bring upgrades to Montreal, which could alter the hierarchy. Williams and Red Bull also took steps forward.

Alpine left Miami as the strongest team in the midfield and that is reflected in a report published by the official Formula 1 website, which analyzes the new hierarchy of the grid after the fourth round of the championship: "Alpine leads the midfield group," stated the category, which quickly issued a warning: "Everything could change when the others add more upgrades next time."

The French team's performance in Florida was undeniable: Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto were the only midfield drivers who managed to qualify for SQ3 and subsequently for Q3. Gasly scored a point in the sprint race, while Colapinto achieved a seventh place in the Grand Prix, his best result in the category, and these points allowed Alpine to overtake Haas in the constructors' championship.

The F1 report acknowledges that Alpine brought the most important upgrade package among the teams in their group to Miami, a new lighter chassis, aerodynamic upgrades to the front and rear brakes, the suspension arms and a redesign of the floor edges were the new features: "Their Mercedes powered car looks good on the straights, and the team seems to be evolving in the right direction," the analysis highlighted.

However, the context is dynamic: Haas and Racing Bulls did not present their upgrades in Miami; they will do so at the Canadian Grand Prix, at the end of May, and all of this could clearly alter the current balance. F1 highlighted this point and commented: "Therefore, they might have expected to be faster than their rivals, but things turned out better than expected."

The report also highlighted the positive surprises of the weekend. Red Bull, after a disappointing start to the season, "got back into the fight for the lead," Max Verstappen started second and fought for the top positions, despite a spin at the start.

"While they may have returned to the fight with the other favorites, Red Bull is still far from winning a race," F1 warned.

Williams, for its part, achieved its best result of the season with a double points finish: Carlos Sainz ninth and Alex Albon tenth, the British team, which had been dragging a significant overweight problem since preseason, brought upgrades that took effect: "The true pace of Williams in 2026 remains unknown and not all of that extra weight has been removed from the car yet," the report clarified.

The next round will be in Canada, on May 24, where Haas and Racing Bulls will debut their upgrade packages. Colapinto will also have the new rear wing that Gasly already used in Miami. For now, Alpine enjoys the lead.
