The Brazilian was eleventh in the last three races and believes the team is close to scoring again. The Red Bull Ring confirmed Audi's pace, and Silverstone is a circuit the driver likes.
Gabriel Bortoleto faces the British Grand Prix hoping that Audi can finally break their points drought. The Brazilian was eleventh in the last three races (Monaco, Barcelona, and Austria) and believes the team is getting closer to scoring again after the ninth place achieved in Australia, on his debut with the German team: "We have progressed in the last few tests and we are always learning a little more about how to get the most out of the car," said Bortoleto.
The Audi driver highlighted the team's consistency in recent races despite the frustration of being so close to the points zone: "I finished eleventh in the last three races, which shows that we are regularly in the fight for points. I hope we can move up one position soon," admitted the Brazilian, who trusts that the team can make the definitive step at Silverstone.
The Red Bull Ring was the scene of a good performance by Audi; Bortoleto was eleventh, and his teammate Nico Hülkenberg finished twelfth, confirming that the team had pace to aim for the top ten, despite not adapting well to the Audi's characteristics, especially due to the power required on the straights. The German team showed that it is heading in the right direction.
Now Bortoleto hopes the team can take a new step forward in England to end this season's points drought. The Brazilian will have the opportunity to race on a circuit that, in addition to being one of the most traditional in Formula 1 history, is also one of his favorites: "What we showed in Austria was encouraging, and the package we took there also contributed to that. I hope we can continue on that path at Silverstone, it's a circuit I liked both last year and in the junior categories," recalled Bortoleto.
The British Grand Prix will have a sprint format, which adds an extra layer of complexity and forces teams to find the way quickly: "With the sprint race, it will be important to find the way quickly. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this weekend," concluded Bortoleto.
Audi needs to score points if it wants to climb positions in the constructors' championship, where it is ninth with 10 points.
The German team is confident that the upgrades introduced in Austria and the performance shown in recent races will enable them to fight for points more consistently in the second half of the season.
