Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were present at the recent Pirelli tyre test at Imola.
After racing at the new Madring Circuit in the 2026 F1 Spanish Grand Prix, work didn't stop for the two Ferrari drivers. Both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc handled the core work for the Pirelli tyre test at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari at Imola.
The two Ferrari drivers reportedly tested out the next-generation C3, C4, and C5 prototype tyre compounds.
Hamilton drove in the morning session on Day 1, less than 48 hours from suffering brake issues and retiring at Madrid. The seven-time World Champion drove the SF-26, the car he's using in the current F1 season, to complete 64 laps. He used the softest prototype compounds and finished with a best time of 1:19.485.
Then, it was Leclerc's turn in the afternoon session. He completed 63 laps and managed to do the fastest lap of 1:18.832 using the same prototypes that Hamilton drove on.
Combined, the Ferrari drivers covered over 600 kilometers of tyre testing on Day 1. Not bad for a day's work.
Camara takes on the TPC duties
Ferrari Driver Academy member Rafael Camara was also present on Day 1 of the Pirelli tyre test. Camara, who currently drives for Invicta Racing in Formula 2, was in charge of testing-of-previous-car (TPC) duties. He drove the SF-25, which was Ferrari's F1 car in 2025 and their last car in the previous regulations.
The Brazilian driver is also rumored to be on his way to an F1 seat. With Freddie Slater transitioning to F2 and signing with Invicta Racing, it might be a sign that Camara will move up to F1 very soon, potentially with Haas.
Other drivers participating in the Pirelli test
The Racing Bulls drivers are also expected to participate at Imola, with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad sharing testing duties on Day 2. Racing Bulls are headquartered in Faenza, which is just 15 kilometers from Imola.
Both Lawson and Lindblad are fresh off productive weekends at Madrid. Lawson, in his replacement role in the main Red Bull car, finished sixth at the Madring. Meanwhile, Lindblad crossed the line in ninth place.
Ferrari's reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi is also expected to test the SF-26 on Day 2. The Italian driver's last F1 stint was for Alfa Romeo during the 2021 season. He has since served as a test driver and reserve driver for Haas, Alpine, and Ferrari.
Finally, Dino Beganovic, who recently won the F2 feature race at Madrid, is slated to drive the SF-25 on Day 2.
