The Briton signed a new contract that will keep him with the team for at least four more seasons, the team celebrates the continuity of its star while the driver promises to keep fighting for more championships.

McLaren has secured its long term future, the Woking team announced this Saturday the renewal of Lando Norris with a contract that will keep the 2025 world champion with the team until, at least, the end of the 2030 season. The agreement also includes a multi year option that could further extend the relationship between the driver and the British structure.

The news arrives at a key moment for the team, Norris, 26, arrived at McLaren in 2017 as a test and development driver before making the jump to the grid in 2019. Since then, his trajectory has been unstoppable: 13 Grand Prix wins, 18 poles, 48 podiums and of course the world title conquered last year (in addition, with 163 races contested for the team, the Briton is already the driver with the most Grands Prix in McLaren's history).

The new contract replaces the previous one, which expired at the end of the 2027 season, and locks Norris in at a time when the driver market was beginning to stir. The team's decision reflects its absolute confidence in the driver, to whom they will also give the MCL39, the car with which he won his first championship.

"McLaren is my home and I'm very happy to sign this new contract that keeps me with the team until at least 2030. When I started this journey nine years ago I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to return McLaren to the top and win championships. Fortunately we achieved that goal but now we want more, we want to keep winning and we know as a team that we are capable of achieving it" declared Norris.

The British driver also showed his enthusiasm for the immediate future: "I can't wait to get in the car at Monza and I'm very excited about what the future holds for us both in the rest of this season and in the coming years."

Zak Brown, McLaren's CEO, expressed his satisfaction with the champion's continuity: "I'm incredibly happy to sign a new contract with Lando, extending his commitment to McLaren until at least 2030, his journey with the team is a fantastic example of our commitment to identifying, developing and supporting world class talent and his achievements speak for themselves" he stated.

The executive highlighted Norris's role in the team's resurrection: "Together with Andrea Stella, Oscar Piastri and the whole team, Lando has helped take McLaren to a new era of success, taking us from the back of the grid to two consecutive constructors' titles in 2024 and 2025 and our first drivers' championship in 17 years."

Andrea Stella, McLaren team principal, underlined the driver's importance within the structure: "Lando has been an integral part of McLaren's journey and success over the last nine years and we are delighted to continue our collaboration with him until at least 2030. He is an exceptional driver, someone who combines outstanding natural speed with maturity, consistency and a strong commitment to McLaren, but above all, he is a special human being who is valued by everyone in the team" said the Italian.

Norris's renewal comes at the same time as Max Verstappen's with Red Bull, also until 2030, ensuring that two of the grid's great rivals will continue their duel in the next decade.

For his part, Oscar Piastri has a contract until 2028, giving McLaren enviable stability to face the future.
