LN4 Fusion replaces AIX Racing on the 2027 Formula 2 grid.
Just like its co-founder, LN4 Fusion raced to a big finish and completed a massive milestone in 2006.
Co-founded by McLaren driver and reigning World Champion Lando Norris, LN4 Fusion has been selected to compete in the 2027 FIA Formula 2 Championship. The team will take the slot that AIX Racing previously held, maintaining the F2 field at 22 cars.
More like a sprint rather than a race, this is an incredible feat for LN4 Fusion, which was publicly launched just barely two months ago. Initially, we thought that this new team would be focused on competing in the lower series, including the Italian F4, Formula Regional European Championship, and Formula 3.
So, this F2 inclusion is a massive step-up. How did Norris and his team do it?
How did LN4 Fusion secure its F2 entry so quickly?
LN4 Fusion's bid for an F2 slot wasn't built from scratch. The key move for them was to inherit a seat at the table. LN4 Fusion acquired select assets of AIX Racing, which gave them entry into Formula 3 in 2027. Then, they applied for an F2 entry alongside that.
This strategic move didn't automatically give them a slot, but it provided LN4 Fusion with the infrastructure and credibility to step into the competitive F2 team selection process. Eventually, the championship confirmed the new team's entry, with F2 CEO Bruno Michel saying that LN4 Fusion can make a "valuable contribution" in the series.
Moreover, it also helped that LN4 Fusion recruited an experienced leadership team alongside Norris.
According to the team's official website, CEO Dan Richards leads the wider business operation. Rene Rosin, son of Prema Racing founder Angelo Rosin, is the Team Principal.
LN4 Fusion is also competing in other feeder series
The team has also established a dedicated British F4 testing program while preparing to compete in the Italian F4 Championship. LN4 Fusion also confirms a program in the FIA Formula Regional European Championship (FRECA) and, as mentioned above, secured an entry into F3.
What comes next for LN4 Fusion?
Following the major administrative milestone of securing an F2 slot, LN4 Fusion now focuses on building a race operation. They need two F2 drivers, along with engineers, mechanics, race strategists, and data analysts.
The team has already signed drivers for its F3 team. The list included former Red Bull Junior Team member James Egozi, 2025 Formula Winter Series winner Gabriel Gomez, and talented Indian driver Dion Gowda.
Moreover, LN4 Fusion will be tested in terms of managing its resources. Running simultaneous programs in Italian F4, FRECA, F3, and F2 could be very complex. The team must ensure that expanding into more categories this early doesn't stretch their resources too thinly.
