Don't bet on a Kimi Antonelli move to Ferrari, at least for the foreseeable future.

The Tifosi have so much to cheer for this weekend. Lewis Hamilton recently mentioned that Ferrari has a better shot at competing for a race win this year than in 2025.

And then there's the Italian driver, Kimi Antonelli, who is currently leading the Formula One Drivers' Championship. As expected, the Mercedes driver won't be able to escape this weekend without answering speculation about a future move to Ferrari.

For now, though, the young, talented racer is shutting down these rumors. Antonelli says he understands that, being an Italian, he will always be linked to the ever-famous Italian racing outfit.

But he also clarifies that he's "very happy" with Mercedes right now, and that he's focusing on "giving back" to the UK-based F1 team.

Antonelli, who just turned 20 years of age last month, is in his second year with Mercedes. He replaced Hamilton in 2025, a huge pair of shoes to fill for a young driver. But the Italian racer has more than held his own.

After finishing second behind teammate George Russell in the 2026 season opener in Australia, Antonelli went on a barrage of five consecutive Grand Prix wins. He would win again in Belgium, then followed it up with a couple more podium finishes.

Through 12 races, Antonelli has a total of 242 points, gaining a 59-point advantage over Russell and Hamilton, his nearest rivals in the championship.

Schumacher predicts Antonelli will move to Ferrari

Former F1 driver and current analyst Ralf Schumacher predicts that Antonelli will eventually move to the Ferrari seat if his "current career trajectory" stays the same. Ralf, brother of Ferrari legend and seven-time World Champion Michael Schumacher, says that it would be an "absolute dream" for an Italian team like Ferrari to bring in a talented Italian driver like Antonelli.

We can't imagine just how festive Monza will be when that happens.

But, of course, Antonelli still has some work to do this weekend. He will receive a power unit penalty in Monza, which would see him start the race at the back of the grid. It will be a challenge for him to climb through the grid and fight for a podium finish, especially with both Ferrari and McLaren, not to mention his Mercedes teammate, at the top of the pile.

After this race at Monza, Antonelli also confirmed that is set to take another PU penalty before the 2026 season ends.
