The Australian's representative described the reports as "fiction" and assured that his driver is happy with the team.

Mark Webber, Oscar Piastri's manager, has come out to address the rumors linking the Australian with a possible departure from McLaren. The former F1 driver described the reports as "fiction" and assured that his driver is happy at the Woking team: "Oscar has a contract with McLaren for the foreseeable future, talking about him agitating to leave is nonsense. A lot of fiction has been written about him and other teams... McLaren has repeatedly said they want him long term and Oscar is focused on that" declared Webber.

The rumors emerged after reports were published about possible negotiations between Max Verstappen's entourage and McLaren to explore opportunities at the papaya team. This speculation adds to the rumors from earlier this year that pointed to a possible direct swap between Verstappen and Piastri, an idea that was publicly rejected by Andrea Stella, McLaren team principal.

Piastri, who has a multi year contract with McLaren, had already reiterated during the British Grand Prix weekend that he is happy at the team: "I have a contract in place, multiple assurances that the team is very happy with me and I'm very happy with the team" declared the Australian.

Zak Brown, McLaren's CEO, also denied the rumors and defended his driver pairing: "They're rumors, I'm very happy with my two drivers, Lando and Oscar, I think every time a name like Max is mentioned, people get very excited, a four time world champion, but I'm very happy with our driver lineup" said Brown.

Piastri's situation at McLaren is solid. The Australian has shown great performance in recent seasons and has established himself as one of the most promising drivers on the grid. His multi year contract and the support of the team and his representative indicate that his future is at Woking.

McLaren has built a sporting project around Norris and Piastri, two young and talented drivers who have proven they can compete at the highest level, the continuity of both is key to the team's plans for the coming seasons, and the denials from Webber and Brown make it clear that the pairing will not be broken in the short term.

The rumors about a possible Piastri departure seem to have been categorically denied by all parties involved. McLaren trusts its driver pairing and has no intention of changing its lineup for the future.

McLaren's commitment to Norris and Piastri remains firm, and with both drivers locked in, the team's focus shifts entirely to delivering a championship winning car.
