Red Bull has officially secured their driver lineup in 2027. But which Formula 1 seats are still available?
After confirming that Isack Hadjar has fully recovered from his wrist injury and will return for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Red Bull has also announced that they will be retaining the French driver for 2027.
Hadjar will slot in alongside teammate Max Verstappen to complete Red Bull's 2027 driver lineup.
The Frenchman has been excellent and consistent in his first year with Red Bull. Prior to his injury during the summer break, Hadjar scored 71 points and finished at least P6 in his last seven races.
But the wrist injury set him back, forcing him to miss three straight race weekends. He and the team were extra cautious not to rush his return, so his recovery went smoothly according to plan.
Liam Lawson, who subbed in for the injured Hadjar, finished in the points in two of his three races for Red Bull. He crossed the line in seventh place at Zandvoort, then finished in sixth place at Madrid.
Hadjar will be feeling a bit of pressure, but his 2027 confirmation should give him some breathing space.
Which F1 seats are still available?
Racing Bulls - 2 open seats
The contracts of Lawson and rookie Arvid Lindblad will expire at the end of 2026. But Lindblad has been consistently good as a rookie, so there's a huge chance that the team will retain him. Meanwhile, Lawson is the best in the midfield with his 59 points.
Racing Bulls have a difficult decision waiting for them, with current Formula 2 championship leader Nikola Tsolov anticipating a call-up.
Aston Martin - 2 open seats
Fernando Alonso remains unsure of his future in F1, especially if the current regulations (which he hates) continue in 2027. If Alonso leaves, it would be a shame for him to part ways with the sport in such circumstances. Look for the FIA to do something about that.
Meanwhile, unless a miracle happens, expect Lance Stroll to re-sign next year, especially while his father, Lawrence Stroll, remains in his position as the controlling owner of the team.
Haas - 2 open seats
If you're drastically outscoring your teammate, just like what Oliver Bearman is doing to his more veteran teammate Esteban Ocon, you should be a shoo-in for a seat next year. On the heels of an excellent start to the season, Bearman has scored 18 points against Ocon's 3, including a P5 finish in China. The British driver should be confident of retaining his seat for 2027.
However, Ocon might be feeling a lot of pressure right now, especially with F2 racer and Ferrari Driver Academy member Rafael Camara waiting around the wings.
