On January 15th, in Detroit, Michigan, Red Bull had their 2026 Season Launch. During the livestream, Red Bull talked about their partnership with Ford, their new powertrains, introduced various people who worked behind the scenes, introduced the Red Bull and Racing Bull 2026 driver lineup and of course revealed the updated 2026 chassis.
The 2026 regulation changes represent the biggest shift Formula One has ever seen, fundamentally redefining power unit architecture, sustainability goals, and energy deployment. Rather than relying on an external manufacturer, Red Bull chose to take control of its own destiny by creating an in house engine program.
This decision led to a landmark partnership with Ford, welcoming the iconic American brand back to Formula One. During the launch, Ford leadership emphasized that moments of major change present rare opportunities, famously noting that “when there is change, you never want a crisis to go to waste.” The partnership was framed as bold, ambitious, and necessary—something only organizations with Red Bull and Ford’s scale and mindset could attempt.
What makes the project even more remarkable is how quickly it came together. Red Bull Ford Powertrains was built in a matter of years, beginning quite literally at the back of the Red Bull factory. From there, the team recruited what they described as the best people available to make the challenge possible, and even mentioned that about 700 people came together to make it happen.
The power unit itself has been named DM01, as a tribute to Dietrich Mateschitz, the late founder of the team. The team highlighted the use of advanced technologies, including experimental 3D metal printing, showcasing how innovation is being embedded into the project from the very start.
Red Bull's Technical Director, Pierre Wache, appeared alongside the drivers as the new look was revealed, emphasizing that the visual change reflects a deeper transformation happening behind the scenes.
When Max Verstappen stepped on stage, his reaction was simple but telling. “I think it’s much better” he said, signaling approval as Red Bull enters uncharted territory. He also shared his uncertainty as he warns the crowd to "bare with us in the first months".
His presence, alongside the team’s leadership and Formula One executives, reinforced the significance of the moment.
The Red Bull and Racing Bull drivers showed off their new team kits, as well as the cars.
The event concluded with appearances from Formula One leadership and the inclusion of F1 Academy drivers, highlighting the sport’s broader push toward innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity.
With DM01 now officially unveiled and a bold new visual identity in place, Red Bull’s message is clear... The 2026 era will be built on ambition, risk, and the belief that redefining the sport starts from within.
