Despite Mario Andretti's criticism and rumors about Colton Herta, the British outlet The Race assures that the Mexican has his seat guaranteed for 2027, Cadillac is happy with its driver pairing and seeks to consolidate the project without changes.

Sergio Pérez's return to Formula 1 with Cadillac has not been easy. After years fighting for wins and podiums with Red Bull, the Mexican now forms part of a new team, looking to make a place for itself in the top category of motorsport, alongside him, Valtteri Bottas completes a driver pairing with talent and extensive experience, something the American team considered essential for its first steps in the category.

However, in recent weeks rumors have emerged that cast doubt on Checo's continuity beyond 2026, the main trigger was Mario Andretti's statements, Cadillac's ambassador, who criticized the performance of both Pérez and Bottas and hinted at the name of Colton Herta, the young American driver, as a possible successor, these words set off alarm bells in the Mexican's camp.

But the reality, according to the European specialized press, is very different, the British outlet The Race has already launched its prediction for the 2027 seats in Formula 1 and it is emphatic: Checo Pérez's future at Cadillac is not in danger, in fact, they assure that the Mexican has his seat guaranteed for at least one more season.

The reason is simple: Cadillac is happy with its two drivers, the American team does not question either of them at this time, aware that they are building a project from scratch, the executives know that results will not come immediately, the goal for 2026 is to improve week by week, fight not to finish in last positions and lay the foundations for the future.

The Race also notes that, while other teams could suffer major moves in 2027, Cadillac is betting on continuity. The idea is to consolidate with the same players next year, giving stability to a team that needs time to grow, Pérez and Bottas's experience is seen as a valuable asset in this development process.

That does not mean there is no uncertainty in the driver market, the big factor that could trigger an earthquake is Max Verstappen. The reason is because the Dutchman has hinted on several occasions about his possible departure from Red Bull or even his retirement from Formula 1, which would generate a domino effect across the entire grid, however, Verstappen's father himself has come out to clarify that his son will continue at the Austrian team.

For now, and barring an unexpected turn of events, Checo Pérez will continue wearing Cadillac's colors in 2027, Andretti's criticism remains mere statements.

The European press is clear: the American project needs stability, and the Mexican is a fundamental part of that plan.
