The latest developments across Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy, including their current standings, recent challenges, and what lies ahead in the upcoming rounds.

Formula 2

Formula 2 kicked off it's season in Melbourne alongside F1, with Gabriele Mini setting the fastest time in free practice and Dino Beganovic setting the fastest time in qualifying. Joshua Durksen would go on to win the sprint race, and Nikola Tsolov would win the feature race. The standings after round 1 had Tsolov in first with 25 points and Rafael Camara and Laurens Van Hoepen behind him, both with 18 points.

Formula 2 also raced at the Miami Grand Prix, where the hometown racer, Colton Herta, set the fastest time in free practice, and Kush Maini set the fastest time in qualifying. Tsolov would win another race, this time the sprint, while Mini won the feature race. After round two, Tsolov remained in first with 35 points, and Mini and Camara followed behind tied at 34 points. Van Hoepen follows behind them in fourth with 26 points and Ritomo Miyata rounds out the top five with 22 points.

Formula 2 races next in Montreal, Canada from May 22 to 24 before heading to Monaco to kick off the European stretch of the calendar. After Monaco from June 4-7, Formula 2 will head to Barcelona, then Spielberg, Silverstone, Spa, Budapest, Monza, Madrid, Baku, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.

Formula 3

Formula 3’s season also started in Melbourne, but they have seen a long break due to the cancellation of the Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. In Melbourne, Ugo Ugochukwu set the fastest time in free practice and Theophile Nael set the fastest time in qualifying. For the races, Bruno Del Pino won the sprint race and Ugoshukwu won the feature race.

Ugochukwu leads the drivers standings after the first round with 25 points. Freddie Slater and Del Pino follow behind Ugochukwu both with 18 points. Taito Kato and Enzo Deligny round out the top five with 16 and 12 points respectively.

Formula 3 will race again in Monaco after three months of no racing because of the cancelled races. After Monaco, they will head to Barcelona, Spielberg, Silverstone, Spa, Budapest, Monza, and Madrid. Formula 3 mostly races in Europe, except for a few exceptions.

F1 Academy

Much like all of the other racing series, F1 Academy was also affected by the cancelled races, but they took a different approach for adjusting the calendar. Instead of just removing the race altogether from the already short calendar, they opted to add an “original race” to Montreal and Austin to make up for the lost race.

F1 Academy had their first round of racing in Shanghai where Alisha Palmowski set the fastest free practice and qualifying time. Nina Gademan won the reverse grid race that took place on Saturday and Emma Felbermayr won the feature race. Felbermayr leads the standings after round one with 31 points. Palmowski follows in second with 25 points and Gademan is in third with 22 points.

F1 Academy races again in Montreal, where they will have one of the two original races scheduled. After that they will head to Silverstone, then Zandvoort, Austin, and Las Vegas where they will finish off their season.
