Dodgers' aces dominate again, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto's historic complete game silencing the Milwaukee Brewers in a 5-1 win. Los Angeles seizes a commanding 2-0 NLCS lead. It's been a long time since we've seen a pitching performance like this.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The only concern the defending world-champion Los Angeles Dodgers had heading to the 2025 postseason was whether their bullpen would hold up. They found the perfect solution for that.

    Have no need for them.

A night after Blake Snell faced the minimum through eight innings. Dodgers Game 2 starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto did one better. He pitched a complete game in Los Angeles' 5-1 victory at American Family Field, allowing just a run and three hits. The only run he allowed was a leadoff home run to Jackson Chourio. Then, 27 outs followed.

The Dodgers now head home with a commanding 2-0 lead in the National League Championship Series.

“If you look at the construction of our roster currently, the strength is starting pitching,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the game. “And when you can have your most talented pitchers get the most outs, then you're in a good spot.

"Those guys take a lead (on the Chourio homer), and we just don't panic. We keep taking our at-bats, and Yamamoto resets and manages that inning. There's a lot of talent in the room. It speaks to character in the sense of whatever happens, it doesn't faze us."

Yamamoto's start was historic in many ways, because we just don't see complete games in baseball anymore, especially in the postseason.

    Look at this amazing stuff:

    * Yamamoto's first career complete game was the first in the postseason since Justin Verlander did it for the Houston Astros in 2017 in the ALCS against the New York Yankees.

    * It was the first Dodgers playoff complete game in 21 years. Jose Lima did it in 2004 against the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS

    * Snell and Yamamoto became the first teammates to deliver consecutive postseason starts of at least eight innings since San Francisco’s Madison Bumgarner and Johnny Cueto in 2016.

    * In their first eight postseason games in 2025, Dodgers starters have gone six innings or more seven times. That hasn't happened in 12 years, since the 2013 Detroit Tigers.

The two teams are off on Wednesday, and the series resumes in Los Angeles on Thursday.
