Brooke Henderson returns to Canada as defending CPKC Women’s Open champion, carrying major-championship momentum and another shot at home-country history.
Brooke Henderson knows exactly what it feels like to win with an entire country leaning into every shot.
Now she gets to try it again.
The Canadian star returns this week to defend her CPKC Women’s Open title, this time at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, one year after delivering one of the most memorable victories of her career in Ontario.
Henderson won the 2025 event at 15-under par, edging Minjee Lee by one stroke after closing with a 4-under 67. The victory was powered as much by precision as emotion, with massive Canadian crowds following her every move.
She embraced it.
“It had been a little while since I had won on Tour, so I feel like doing it at home in front of all the crowds and fans that supported me all week was really awesome,” Henderson said.
The path to that win wasn’t simple.
She opened with an even-par 71, then surged with rounds of 66 and 65 to move into contention. A dramatic bunker hole-out for eagle on the 17th hole Saturday helped push her into a share of the lead heading into Sunday.
Then she finished the job.
This week brings a different venue but a familiar feeling.
Royal Mayfair last hosted the event in 2013, when Lydia Ko won. Henderson was just 15 at the time and still years away from becoming one of Canada’s most accomplished golfers.
Now she returns with 14 LPGA Tour victories, two major championships and two CPKC Women’s Open titles.
She’s also carrying some serious momentum.
At the Amundi Evian Championship last month, Henderson nearly pulled off one of the wildest major comebacks in recent memory. She erased a seven-shot deficit in the final round with a hole-in-one, two eagles and three birdies before eventually losing to Haeran Ryu in a playoff.
That week included six eagles, a record for an LPGA major.
Not bad form to bring home.
Henderson has made it clear that playing in Canada gives her something extra.
“There is so much love and so much just positive energy from them,” she said of the fans.
That energy helped carry her to victory last year.
Now the question is whether the Brooke Brigade can help fuel another one.
Because when Henderson gets rolling in Canada, she doesn’t just contend. She becomes an event.
