LIV Golf Mexico City is back at Club de Golf Chapultepec, and the course setup should create another dramatic week in the league’s team race.
At roughly 7,350 feet above sea level, Chapultepec is one of the most unique stops on the LIV Golf schedule.
The altitude in Mexico City helps the ball fly, the Kikuyu fairways and rough demand control, and the par-71 layout stretches to 7,443 yards on paper while often playing much shorter in reality.
That combination gives several of LIV Golf’s biggest names a real chance to shine, but Legion XIII enters the week looking like the most complete team in the field.
Jon Rahm showed signs of life late at the Masters with a final round that included seven birdies, while Tyrrell Hatton arrives after a career-best T3 finish in a major.
If Tom McKibbin and Caleb Surratt offer even modest support, Legion XIII has the firepower to break through finally.
Torque GC isn’t far behind. Joaquin Niemann won in Mexico City last year at 16-under and returns to a venue that clearly fits his game.
Carlos Ortiz should also benefit from a home-country boost, and Sebastian Muñoz has been one of the steadier performers in LIV Golf over the past few seasons.
Fireballs GC feels like a team ready to make noise as well. Sergio Garcia appears refreshed, and younger stars David Puig and Josele Ballester have the kind of length and aggressive style that could pay off in the thin air.
Elsewhere, 4Aces GC and Ripper GC bring proven form, while Crushers GC remains dangerous thanks to Bryson DeChambeau’s power and Paul Casey’s past success at Chapultepec.
With Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, and DeChambeau all in the mix, LIV Golf Mexico City has no shortage of star power or volatility heading into the weekend.
