PGA TOUR Champions is adding a late-season wrinkle, with six events feeding into a winner-take-all $200,000 Sprint to St. Louis finale.

The PGA TOUR Champions season just got a little more interesting. The new Sprint to St. Louis presented by Compliance Solutions creates a six-event race that will run through the final five tournaments of the 2026 regular season and into the opening event of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs.

And there’s no complicated payout structure at the end.

One player gets $200,000.

The format is built to reward golfers who get hot at exactly the right time. The five-tournament qualifying stretch begins with the Sanford International, Sept. 11-13, followed by the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, Sept. 18-20.

After a one-week break, the competition resumes with the Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic, Oct. 2-4, then moves to Constellation FURYK & FRIENDS, Oct. 9-11, before wrapping the qualifying portion at the SAS Championship, Oct. 16-18.

The three players who earn the most Charles Schwab Cup points across those five tournaments advance to St. Louis.

That’s where the format gets nasty. Instead of carrying points into the finale, the slate effectively gets wiped clean.

The three qualifiers will compete at the Stifel Charity Classic at Norwood Hills Country Club, Oct. 23-25, and whichever of the three finishes highest in the actual tournament wins the entire $200,000 bonus.

No season-long math. No “protect the lead” scenario. Just beat the other two guys when it matters. If two or all three finalists finish tied, the bonus will be decided by a sudden-death playoff.

The timing also gives the competition some real weight. The Stifel Charity Classic is the first event of the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, with the top 72 players from the regular season advancing into the postseason.

So players won’t simply be chasing the Sprint money. They’ll also be fighting for position in the season-long championship.

That overlap could make the final weeks of the PGA TOUR Champions regular season far more compelling.

A veteran who catches fire in September can suddenly turn five strong tournaments into a shot at an extra $200,000. Then he has to prove it one more time in St. Louis.

For a circuit built around proven winners, the formula is simple: Get hot. Get to St. Louis. Finish ahead of the other two. Take the money.
