Twelve roster spots. Two captains. One tense hour. Here’s when and where to watch the 2026 Presidents Cup captain’s picks—and which stars are sweating.
The 2026 Presidents Cup captain’s picks are about to turn a routine Tuesday into golf’s version of cutdown day.
U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker and International captain Geoff Ogilvy will each reveal six selections during the “Presidents Cup Selection Special,” airing live Tuesday from 5 to 6 p.m. ET.
Golf Channel will televise the announcement from PGA Tour Studios in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Fans can also stream it through PGA Tour FAST, the PGA Tour’s YouTube channel, PGATour.com, X and the PGA Tour App. The official “Road to the Presidents Cup” special follows Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
There’s no suspense at the top. Scottie Scheffler leads the six automatic U.S. qualifiers, joined by Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa.
That’s an intimidating core, but the names immediately outside the line make Snedeker’s job deliciously uncomfortable.
Chris Gotterup and Ben Griffin finished seventh and eighth in the U.S. standings. Behind them sit Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun and Justin Thomas.
Jacob Bridgeman, Patrick Cantlay, Akshay Bhatia and Maverick McNealy round out the top 15. Six invitations won’t cover every compelling case, so somebody with serious credentials is getting left behind.
Ogilvy has an equally tricky puzzle. Si Woo Kim topped the International standings, followed by Ryan Fox, Hideki Matsuyama, Min Woo Lee, Tom Kim and Adam Scott.
Their automatic qualification became official after the TOUR Championship.
Corey Conners sits first outside the International cutoff, with Nico Echavarria, Sungjae Im, Ryo Hisatsune, Jason Day and Casey Jarvis next in line. Nick Taylor, Aldrich Potgieter and Jayden Schaper remain deeper - but hardly invisible - in the conversation.
The selections will complete two 12-player teams before the 16th Presidents Cup, scheduled for Sept. 24-27 at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago.
Captain’s picks are supposedly about chemistry, course fit and recent form. They’re also where reputations collide with cold arithmetic.
By 6 p.m. Tuesday, 12 players will be booking trips to Medinah, and several stars will be wondering what more they could’ve done.
