Scottie Scheffler headlines the first six players locked into the 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup team, with captain Brandt Snedeker still holding six picks.
The first half of the 2026 U.S. Presidents Cup team is officially set, and it starts exactly where you'd expect: with Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler finished the qualifying window at No. 1 and will lead the American side into Medinah Country Club for the Sept. 24-27 showdown.
He’s joined by Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa, giving captain Brandt Snedeker a loaded foundation before he even makes a single pick.
That’s a serious six-pack.
Scheffler secured the top spot after his dominant St. Jude Championship victory, while Young continues to back up his Players Championship win with one of the best seasons of his career.
Clark made the biggest late move.
His win at the BMW Championship was his third PGA Tour victory of 2026, and it launched him from seventh to third in the Presidents Cup standings.
That jump knocked Ben Griffin out of an automatic spot after Griffin finished tied for 44th at Bellerive.
Clark's momentum couldn't have come at a better time.
The automatic qualifiers also bring plenty of team-event experience. Morikawa owns the strongest Presidents Cup record of the group at 6-2-0, while Henley is 3-1-0 and Burns is 3-3-3. Scheffler enters his third Presidents Cup with a 3-5-1 mark.
Snedeker praised the group for more than just their resumes.
“They've shown they can perform when the pressure is the highest,” he said.
Now comes the harder part.
Six captain’s selections remain, and the bubble is packed with big names.
Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Justin Thomas, Jacob Bridgeman and Ben Griffin all finished inside the top 12 of the standings, while Patrick Cantlay surged to No. 13 with a strong BMW Championship performance.
That gives Snedeker options.
Does he lean on experience? Ride current form? Reward FedEx Cup momentum? Or take a chance on a player who fits Medinah particularly well?
Those decisions will shape the American team almost as much as the automatic qualifiers.
Snedeker and International captain Geoff Ogilvy will announce their six picks on Sept. 1 at 5 p.m. ET.
